Recently, a bright light and fireball lit up the skies over Mexico. Locals believed it was a meteorite, and soon social media was flooded with claims that it landed in someone’s backyard and released a strange creature, similar to Venom from the movies. But the truth is very different.
Fireball Seen in Mexico
According to scientists, the event was actually a bolide a type of meteoroid that burns up completely in Earth’s atmosphere. Its size was about 1.5 meters, and it disintegrated before reaching the ground. That means no fragments or creatures were found on Earth.
Viral Venom-like Rumor
Meanwhile, a separate video went viral online claiming that a sticky, foul-smelling creature emerged from a meteorite. Many compared it to the Hollywood character Venom. However, this incident did not happen in Mexico it actually originated in Panama.
Scientists’ Opinion
Experts who reviewed the Panama case explained that the so-called “creature” was likely a fungus known as Clathrus archeri, also called Devil’s Fingers. Its unusual shape and smell made people mistake it for something alien.
